From his early training in 1978 as a resident in dermatology at Barnes
Hospital, Washington University Medical Center in St. Louis,
Mo., Dr. Clarence Wiley developed a keen interest in light
therapy. There, under the guidance of Dr. Arthur Z. Eisen,
he was first exposed to light therapy for light responsive
problems such as eczema, psoriasis, and vitiligo.
However,
it was his interest in vitiligo therapy that stimulated him
to continue to study and use light therapy and in 1982 develop
the first Vitiligo Treatment Center in the mid-west in Oklahoma City.
Experiencing the benefits of light therapy for these medical problems for
his patients, Dr. Wiley's interest was especially driven by
the first introduction of lasers. Dr. Wiley traveled to Cincinnati,
Ohio to train with Dr. Leon Goldman, "The Father of Skin
Laser Surgery" in 1981. This and subsequent training
with the "master" laid the foundation for his career as a laser surgeon.
From this initial training in laser surgery, Dr. Clarence Wiley has
pioneered and developed laser skills and techniques.
He was one of the first laser surgeons in Oklahoma when he
started performing laser surgery in 1981. In June 1986
when he relocated to Hutchinson, Kansas, Dr. Wiley was one
of the first laser surgeons in the state of Kansas.
He has performed laser surgery with a number of laser systems
and regularly trains in the most advanced laser systems and techniques.
At the Center for Skin Health and Beauty we have 6 in-office laser/light
treatment systems for therapy and surgery.
The Medlite IV, a Q-switched frequency doubled Neodymium YAG laser system, has arrived
at the Center For Skin Health & Beauty.
The Medlite is the most versatile laser in the cosmetic
market. It's applications include tattoo removal, pigmented
and dermal lesion removal, and vascular lesion treatment.
- Removal of tattoo inks
- Epidermal pigmented lesion removal
- Vascular lesion removal
- Dermal lesion removal
- Proven clinical performance
The Medlite laser emits light in very short flashes of light called pulses. The impact
of the energy from the powerful pulse of light is similar
to the snap of a small rubberband. After your treatment, the
area will feel like a slight sunburn. Normally, any discomfort
disappears within a day or so. The skin area may remain reddened
for one to four weeks. After the redness clears, your skin
returns to its natural smooth texture and coloring.
After years of research, attending a number of laser meetings and testing different
laser systems on a spectrum of skin types, Dr. Clarence Wiley
has purchased the Medlite IV as the laser system that best
meets the needs of his diverse clientele.
In deciding to add the Medlite IV to his present in-office laser systems of CO2 (carbon
dioxide) and hair removal lasers, Dr. Wiley's main goal is
to provide the most efficient means of treating skin disorders
in his diverse clientele of African American, Caucasian, Hispanic,
Asian and other populations representing all skin types and
tones. "My goal is to be a dermatologist and
a laser surgeon for whoever walks in my door... that is, for
all people in the world."
The
Medlite IV is capable of treating vascular lesions (such as
facial and leg veins, port wine stain, birthmarks, and spider
veins), pigmented lesions (spots sometimes marring the skin
in Asians), and tattoos, as well performing hair removal and
management across the spectrum of races and ethnicities with
the greatest efficiency and minimal risk and side effects.
In particularly, the Medlite IV can perform tattoo removal and removal of unwanted
hair in people of color. Problems such as razor bumps
in African American men and unwanted facial hair in women
that previously were hard to treat, now can be readily improved
with this laser.
The in-office availability of the Medlite IV will allow more frequent treatments
at a lower cost than prior rented laser systems.

At the Center for Skin Health and Beauty, our goal is to
have the technology and expertise to treat skin conditions
in all types, colors, shades, and ethnicity of human
skin... or, in other words, everybody.
For technology, the Photo Derm is on of our six in-office
laser/light systems. For expertise, Board Certified
Dermatologist, Dr. Clarence Wiley, has over 20 years
of experience in laser/light surgery and cosmetic dermatologic
surgery.
The Photo Derm is a non-invasive medical system that uses
light therapy to treat many skin problems. Photo
Derm treats pigmented lesions, age spots, sun spots,
freckles, birthmarks, tattoos, keratses and other unsightly
brown discolorations.
Red vascular (blood vessel) problems that can be treated
include spider veins, port wine stain birthmarks, hemangioma
and rosacea.
The Photo Derm can also remove unwanted hair from any part
of the body. The FDA has approved the Photo Derm
as "permanent hair reduction". Because
your hair grows in cycles, a series of treatments are
required for optimal results.
The Photo Derm Pulsed Light and our Medlite IV laser gives
us comprehensive treatment options for most skin colors.
