Acne Prone Skin (Oily)
The healthy approach to care of oily acne prone skin is very similar
to normal to dry
acne prone skin with these exceptions. Use the directions of care
for normal to dry
acne prone skin and based on your personal circumstances adjust accordingly.
- For the face and neck: People with very oily skin may not need to use Beauty thru Health Facial Moisturizer
after cleansing their skin especially in the summer time. Try waiting the 12 hour, use no moisturizer and then start your regimen.
Also try not using the moisturizer after washing off the Beauty thru Health
Facial Mask.
You may need to increase use of the moisturizer as the colder and drier fall and winter approaches.
You should consider switching to a
sunscreen/block with a light moisturizer base that is non-comedogenic and formulated for
sensitive skin. Try Elta Facial SPF 30+ Block by
Swiss American in the summer or year
long for oily skin in place of the Elta SPF 32.
- Excessive oiliness of the facial skin: There are people whose facial skin is so oily especially during summer and in
warm environments that their skin literally "runs oil". These same people also may have a oily scalp problem that
looks like dandruff. It is important to remove this scalp oiliness that contributes to more acne by its running
onto the face especially the forehead. (See Healthy Scalp Care.)
Removing the facial oiliness reduces plugged up hair follicles (comedones) that are the foundation of acne problems.
Beauty thru Health Glycolic Oily Skin
and Acne Solution 8 will remove this extra oil from the skin and help to clear and control acne. It can be used as
a cleanser in the morning in place of washing with
BTH Sensitive Skin Cleansing Lotion
or as often as needed during the day if the face becomes oily. Apply a small amount of the cleanser
to a cotton ball and wipe over the oily face.
